Southern Middlesex County Freight Movement Study
The Freight Movement Study for Middlesex County, New Jersey focused on freight movement at New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8A where there is a significant concentration of industrial facilities. I created a base map and a set of 10 maps showing road and bridge conditions, truck volumes, intersection level of service, truck prohibitions, and truck crash hotspots. We used these maps to evaluate:
how the road network functions with freight users
how freight users impact the road network for other motorists
potential route restrictions or other changes to improve the road network
safety concerns
